Junior Program:

Our CTA provides high-quality tennis programs for all ages. One of our primary goals is to
continue to offer excellent opportunities for our Junior Program. This program continues to grow and we now have approximately 90 students who enjoy playing and improving their skills. In 2009 we had two students, one 10 and one 11 year-old compete in a state tournaments and win their division. We continue to have other students who have retained their USTA ranking in the Pacific Northwest division.

Thanks to the diligent efforts of our USNTA Certified Tennis Instructor, Jeffrey Nash and the GPCTA Board of Directors, our growing Junior Program provides additional opportunities for youth to participate in weekly tennis team workouts and to compete in our own USTA Sanctioned Junior Tournament, the Tennis Ballers Shot Callers, Jr. Championship. This event continues to draw excellent students from our community and from other areas in Oregon and some students from out-of-state. This will continue to be an annual event in August each year. Tournament dates are posted on the website and emailed in advance to those who express an interest in competing. Check out the website for information on dates and times.


JUNIOR PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
  • Expand and strengthen our Junior Tennis Team that will participate in at least 5 USTA sanctioned tournaments.
  • Schedule annual August Sanctioned Junior Tournament.
  • Fundraising through sponsors, fund raisers, and Junior Tournament.
  • Establish various levels of juniors depending on skills.
  • Increase numbers of juniors ranked in the State. Expand training time, schedule additional court time, and improve junior performance through improved skills, playing in more tournaments, and creating GPCTA.
  • Junior Ladder competition.
  • Provide Sponsorship of worthy and needy students to attend tournaments.
  • Sponsorship Contest - kids who have limited exposure to sport will go through physical test, interview, &/or essay to win a grand prize - year of Instruction (4hr/a mo) + Starter Bag (bag, racquet, etc.).
  • Continue to improve our results in Regional Team Tennis tournaments.
    The GPCTA has won the Ashland tournament for the third time in a row.
